Afrowithjeevi

African Dance Fitness

About

“Afrowithjeevi” began during the circuit breaker of 2020 out of joy, connection, and desire to push boundaries, to now an inviting African dance fitness journey for adults, teenagers, and kids. They provide a glimpse into African culture, alongside spreading joy through music and dance, and enhancing social cohesion at the same time. While there are a plethora of opportunities available for dance and fitness classes, such as Zumba, Bollywood, and K-pop, “Afrowithjeevi” aspires to share another distinct experience with the Singaporean community. Their dance classes offer a safe space for newcomers, to try a different dance form, push their boundaries, let loose, and enjoy themselves. Their aim is to ensure everyone leaves each class feeling empowered and energized.

About The Owner

Hi! I am Jeevi, the founder of “Afrowithjeevi”.

I have been a dance instructor for almost a decade, previously teaching Zumba Fitness and now African dance fitness. It was during my university exchange programme in Cairns, Australia, that I got introduced to African culture and its captivating dance. Later by chance, I came across an instructor training workshop in African dance fitness, here in Singapore. Out of curiosity, I attended it and obtained my dance license then in 2015, but it was the circuit breaker that eventually brought my passion alive. Whenever I hear my class attendees exclaiming that they feel energised and better about themselves, I know I have done my job well. I hope to combine my knowledge as a Sport Psychologist, with my passion for African dance, to increase the mental, social, and physical well-being of others. I feel we are always rushing in life to meet deadlines, but what is also important is to pause, to take time for ourselves to experience such joys.
