Emma Sherrard Matthew
Born in Singapore and educated in Hong Kong, Malaysia and an all-girls boarding school in the UK, I have always truly enjoyed the support of my tribe of girlfriends. I know first-hand how powerful a collective voice can be when put to good.
My career began in New Zealand before I moved to London in 2000 to join an events company, managing events for prominent clients including Heads of State, the British Royal Family and Hollywood stars at locations from 10 Downing Street to the Tate Modern Gallery. This followed a return to my roots in Hong Kong to work and oversee commercial delegations to China and promote British business in the region.
In 2005, I was approached by Quintessentially to launch the brand in Asia Pacific, with the first office in Hong Kong. Since then I have helped build the business and company profile globally as Global CEO from 2011-2015 and now in the role of Executive Chairman – Asia Pacific. Over the past four years I have focused on building a portfolio career sitting on company Boards which include: Maggie & Rose, Silentmode and M. Development.
Having launched my private family office – STEM Innovations – I am an active angel investor and have built a book of 25 companies mainly focusing on supporting female entrepreneurs and/or businesses with strong potential impact to improve how we live our lives.
I previously sat on the Board of ‘Women Helping Women’ (2017-2019) and ‘The Women’s Foundation’ (2011-2015). In these roles I have seen first-hand how badly needed financial solutions focused on women are, and so I am really pleased to be supporting Lucy to fill this gap.
I currently live between Hong Kong and Bali where my children attend The Green School whose origins are committed to educating for sustainability in a natural environment through their purpose –driven curriculum.
